About Melissa Spears:

Melissa Spears is a high school math teacher at Monmouth-Roseville High School in west central Illinois. She has been teaching high school math for six years and currently teaches algebra and geometry to students in grades 9-12. She is one of the fortunate few who love going to work every day. The best part of her job is helping students realize their potential, and while some may consider working with teenagers scary, to her it is both rewarding and challenging. One of the major struggles is helping her students overcome the anxiety that is often associated with the word “math”. Through her experience, she has found that using technology engages and motivates students to move beyond their fears and embrace the subject matter.
